Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is West Marion's Fifth in Last Six Outings

While West Marion's win against Perry Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. West Marion came out on top against Perry Central on Friday by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 last Tuesday.

Kolby Stringer made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Sam Smith looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

Stringer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Albritton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that Albritton snagged this season.

West Marion is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. Perry Central is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

West Marion has already played their next match (against Pearl River Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Perry Central, they will face off against Tylertown at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Perry Central is facing Tylertown at the right time seeing as Tylertown is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
