Softball Game Preview: North Vermillion Falcons vs. Covington Trojans

For the second straight game, North Vermillion will face off against Covington. The Falcons will head out to challenge the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Vermillion has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

North Vermillion couldn't beat Covington on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Falcons fell 11-8 to the Trojans. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Covington's part, Alexus Peaslee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Covington got a massive performance out of Preslee Shaw, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Alex Sutherlin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Covington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Covington moved to 8-14 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for North Vermillion, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
