Recap: Pine View Panthers vs. Dixie Flyers
The Pine View Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dixie. Pine View has not had much luck with Dixie recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Pine View saw an underclassman step up: Reese Gustin scored 15 points along with six steals. Gustin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Casey Morley, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Kealah Faumuina was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds for Dixie. Faumuina hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Jaycee Bundy was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Pine View's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-12. As for Dixie, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.
Pine View will be playing in front of their home fans against Cedar at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pine View in Utah (Cedar is ranked 16th, while Pine View is ranked 101st). As for Dixie, they will head out on the road to face off against Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Snow Canyon will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
