Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Christian Warriors vs. Nolan Catholic Vikings

The Liberty Christian Warriors will challenge the Nolan Catholic Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty Christian will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Liberty Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Parish Episcopal, taking the game 9-4.

Ben Brown looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Brady Janusek was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Evan Wells, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Liberty Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Nolan Catholic and Trinity Christian meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Vikings fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2.

Liberty Christian's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Nolan Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16-1 record this season.

Liberty Christian beat Nolan Catholic 10-7 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
