Football Recap: Sekia Taylor's Menacing Defense Leads Chaparral over Rancho

Chaparral won the last time they faced Rancho and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Chaparral Cowboys enjoyed a cozy 25-6 win over the Rancho Rams.

Chaparral had a senior duo take command as Sybol Hardinger threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.4% of her passes and Asia Washington rushed for 101 yards on only 14 carries.

One reason for the win was Chaparral's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Sekia Taylor was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two herself. She has been hot, having posted at least one sack the last six times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Rancho lost, don't look at Reese LeBaron. Despite the final result, she rushed for 108 yards, and also caught one touchdown. Those 108 rushing yards gave LeBaron a new career-high.

Chaparral's record now sits at 7-4. As for Rancho, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.

Chaparral will host Desert Pines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Chaparral is facing Desert Pines at the right time seeing as Desert Pines is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Rancho, they will venture away from home to square off against Canyon Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Rancho will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: Canyon Springs will have lost three straight heading into Friday's game.
