Vancleave has gone 7-1 against St. Martin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Vancleave Bulldogs will challenge the St. Martin Yellow Jackets at 2:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Vancleave was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Stanislaus, taking the game 5-1. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly four runs.

Max Bates made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bates was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he also posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Bates wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tony Craven, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Craven a new career-high in hits (two).

Meanwhile, St. Martin put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against Pascagoula.

Vancleave's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for St. Martin, their record now sits at 3-0.

Everything went Vancleave's way against St. Martin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Vancleave made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vancleave since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
