Basketball Recap: Cairo Takes a Loss

Cairo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 23rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets 45-18. While losing is never fun, the Syrupmakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 185th).

Thomas County Central found their leader in freshman Chan Dunbar, who posted 16 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jaida Pinkins, who put up ten points and four steals.

Cairo's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Thomas County Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Cairo will square off against Seminole County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thomas County Central, they will take on Veterans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
