Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Pioneer Valley Regional

Pioneer Valley Regional put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Frontier Regional Red Hawks. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ethan Quinn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alex McClelland was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Jackson Campbell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Pioneer Valley Regional hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.

Pioneer Valley Regional pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Frontier Regional, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pioneer Valley Regional will host Oxford at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Frontier Regional, they will challenge Ware at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
