Baseball Recap: Beverly Wins Going Away Against Saugus

Beverly barely beat Saugus the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Sachems 8-0 on Wednesday. That looming 8-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

Saugus' batters probably weren't too happy with Graham Gavin, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (he gave up two walks). Gavin also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Beverly is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Connolly, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That run marked the first that he has scored this season. Micah McMannus was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

With the win, Beverly broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6. As for Saugus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beverly will welcome Danvers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Saugus, they will face off against Winthrop at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
