Basketball Game Preview: Salem Hills Skyhawks vs. Spanish Fork Dons

Salem Hills is 9-1 against Spanish Fork since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Salem Hills Skyhawks will take on the Spanish Fork Dons at 5:15 p.m. Spanish Fork took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Salem Hills, who comes in off a win.

Salem Hills is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Springville by a score of 62-55 on Friday.

Salem Hills' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chenielle Nye led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Nye is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Brooke Warren, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.

Salem Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Spanish Fork was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-54 heartbreaker at the hands of Maple Mountain.

Salem Hills' win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Spanish Fork, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Salem Hills came out on top in a nail-biter against Spanish Fork in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 51-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Salem Hills since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
