League recap: Somerset extends winning streak with victory over Coyle-Cassidy

Somerset extended the longest winning streak in Eastern this week by beating Coyle-Cassidy, 42-13. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Raiders.

Bishop Feehan took down Durfee 43-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Martha's Vineyard Regional's dynamic duo of Alec Tattersall and Brandon Watkins proved tough for Bishop Stang to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Tattersall threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns and Watkins had 91 yards receiving. Jahmari Thomas helped Martha's Vineyard Regional's passing attack out by catching four balls for 65 yards.

Joshua Cobb was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 91 yards as the Warriors beat the Spartans. Teammate Alec Turner added to the ground attack by rushing for 36 yards.

Martha's Vineyard Regional's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Vineyarders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tattersall has thrown for 851 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Watkins has 17 catches for 312 yards. Watkins leads the league in rushing with 789 yards.

There should be lots of points scored when Martha's Vineyard Regional and Coyle-Cassidy face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Donald Herman's team comes in having scored 177 this season, while Tom Pileski's team has scored 128. The Vineyarders scored 22 points last week as they defeated Bishop Stang.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Somerset takes on the Shamrocks. Nick Freitas' team has allowed 85 points this season, while Bishop Feehan has given up 58.

Curt Smith's team led Eastern in scoring this week after putting up 43 points on the Hilltoppers.
