Baseball Recap: Smyrna Comes Up Short

Smyrna had lost eight straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-22 to make it nine. They fell just short of the Blackman Blaze by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since March 8th.

As for Blackman, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 22-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 5th.

For Blackman's part, Adrian Gomez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, Gomez posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Blackman secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Kenneth Colon, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Another was Jonah Brown, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

As of now, neither Smyrna nor Blackman have any future games scheduled.
