Basketball Recap: LKY Piles Up the Points Against Christian Educational Consortium

LKY won the last time they faced Christian Educational Consortium and things went their way on Friday too. The LKY Saints blew past the Christian Educational Consortium Cougars, posting a 72-23 win. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Hannah Simmon continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 11-for-19 to rack up 29 points along with seven boards and six assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of LKY's points. Courtney Simmon was another key player, going 6-for-8 en route to 16 points and six rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: LKY was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Christian Educational Consortium's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sophie Hales, who posted 11 points and six boards, and Jenna Wyndham, who earned nine points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. Christian Educational Consortium is 2-1 when Wyndham posts five or more steals, but 4-11 otherwise.

LKY is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 41.2 points. As for Christian Educational Consortium, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.

Coincidentally, LKY and Christian Educational Consortium will both be playing Bluegrass United the next time they take the court. Christian Educational Consortium will host Bluegrass United at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, while LKY will host them at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday.
