Baseball Recap: Thornwood Comes Up Short

Thornwood lost against Crete-Monee on Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Thunderbirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Thornwood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derrion Howard, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Howard is becoming a predictor of the Thunderbirds' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Daniel Diaz was another, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Thornwood's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Crete-Monee, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.

While Thornwood had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
