Baseball Recap: Cabool Takes a Loss

Cabool extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-11. They lost 15-3 to the Houston Tigers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 2, 2019, but that streak is no more.

Oliver Appleton made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

As for Houston, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Houston, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Houston's side, Blake Sanders was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Sanders was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jasper McCloy was excellent, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ethan Carter was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Cabool and Houston could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked 433rd) will meet Fordland (ranked 114th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Houston will take on Ava at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (213 vs. 98).
