Baseball Recap: Lake's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lake had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Morton Panthers a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Hornets have won 18 games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jd Gibson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hank Geter, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Lake pushed their record up to 21-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Morton, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.

Looking ahead, Lake will take on Newton County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Morton, they will challenge Puckett at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
