Basketball Recap: Rock Point Comes Up Short

After flying high against Rough Rock on Tuesday, Rock Point came back down to earth. The Cougars took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the El Capitan Eagles on Saturday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Ruth Timpson was her usual excellent self, going 13-for-25 to rack up 29 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven blocks for El Capitan. That makes it six consecutive games in which Timpson has scored at least a third of the Eagles' points. Samantha Hammon was another key player, putting up 14 points and five steals.

Rock Point now has a losing record of 3-4. As for El Capitan, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Rock Point has already played their next contest (against Fredonia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for El Capitan, they will be home for the holidays to greet Beaver Dam at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
