Softball Game Preview: Crown Point Panthers vs. Johnsburg Central Jaguars

The Crown Point Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Johnsburg Central Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crown Point will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Crown Point's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 29-0 margin over Wells.

Kaitlin Ross made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Ross was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs.

In other batting news, Crown Point got a massive performance out of Leah Pockett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Addison Hurlburt was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Johnsburg Central didn't have quite enough to beat Chazy on Friday and fell 7-6. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Crown Point pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.5 runs over those games. As for Johnsburg Central, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Everything went Crown Point's way against Johnsburg Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Crown Point made off with a 26-0 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
