Volleyball Recap: Kettle Moraine Lutheran Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Kettle Moraine Lutheran can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to the Catholic Memorial Crusaders on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chargers of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

The 3-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Kettle Moraine Lutheran lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 30-28, 18-25, 25-23.

Their offense was headlined by Mya Mayer and Ambryn Aanonsen, who picked up ten kills apiece. They got some help from Samantha Peterson and her 24 assists. Elizabeth Ehlke controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Catholic Memorial was led to victory by Anna Duelge and Aubrie Gariety. Duelge had 16 digs and six assists, while Gariety had ten digs. Those ten digs gave Gariety a new career-high.

Kettle Moraine Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 24-20. As for Catholic Memorial, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-16.

Kettle Moraine Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Catholic Memorial, they have already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Sauk Prairie on the 1st.
