Recap: Swainsboro Tigers vs. Baldwin Braves

If the Swainsboro Tigers were riding high off their 93-15 takedown of the Treutlen Vikings last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Swainsboro was dealt a 67-39 loss at the hands of Baldwin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Swainsboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Baldwin is ranked 12th).

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tanyia Williams, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Williams hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for 14 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Howard, who scored 12 points.

Swainsboro struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Baldwin racked up 12 assists.

Baldwin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kassidy Neal, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Neal hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Madison Ruff, who scored 17 points along with three steals.

Swainsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Baldwin, the victory was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-2.

Swainsboro will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bleckley County at 5:00 p.m. Hopefully Swainsboro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. Baldwin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
