Baseball Recap: Fort Hill Beats Hancock for Their Fourth Straight Win

Fort Hill waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Hancock Panthers. For the Sentinels, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Bobby Brauer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Coye Resh was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Jacob VanMeter also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Fort Hill pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Hancock, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Fort Hill will take on Southern at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hancock, they will challenge Turkeyfoot Valley Area at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.17 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
