Baseball Game Preview: Summertown Eagles vs. Marshall County Tigers

For the second straight game, Summertown will face off against Marshall County. Summertown will be playing at home against Marshall County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Summertown will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Marshall County on Thursday. Summertown blew past Marshall County 10-4. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Ryder Blackwood made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Summertown is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. Blackwood was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Summertown got a big performance out of Graham Howell, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Howell also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Cason Blackwood was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Summertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marshall County only posted a batting average of .240.

Summertown is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. The defeat snapped Marshall County's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-7 record.
