Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arleta). They were the clear victors by a 22-10 margin over the Gardena Panthers on Saturday. The Mustangs not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 13, 2024.

Alexis Sanchez was a standout: he scored six runs and stole four bases while going 5-for-6. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Michael Thomas was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of his nine plate appearances.

Sanchez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Arleta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for the Mustangs: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 8.8.

Arleta is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Gardena, they dropped their record down to 6-9 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arleta will head out to square off against Van Nuys at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolves' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gardena, they are taking a road trip to face off against Narbonne at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gauchos will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
