Volleyball Recap: Madeira Falls to Highland in First Game of Season

Madeira unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Highland Hawks by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Madeira sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 30-28, 23-25, 25-14, 14-25, 15-9.

The victory was the 17th in a row (dating back to last season) for Highland, bringing their record up to 2-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madeira is headed away from home for the first time to challenge National Cathedral at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Highland, they will take on Virginia Episcopal School at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
