Soccer Game Preview: Scotus vs. Pius X

The Scotus Shamrocks will head out to square off against the Pius X Thunderbolts at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Scotus sitting on ten straight victories and Pius X on five.

Scotus is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Millard North, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Scotus was ranked seventh). The Shamrocks blew past the Mustangs 4-1 on Monday. Scotus better thank their lucky stars for the performance of Emma Brezenski, as she scored every single goal for her team.

Meanwhile, Duchesne kept up with Pius X until halftime on Tuesday, but afterwards: not so much. The Thunderbolts' defense stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Pius X, who have now won four contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Scotus pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Pius X, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Scotus might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Pius X in their previous matchup back in March of 2018. Can the Shamrocks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
