The Eastern Comets will challenge the Carroll Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Eastern's tournament run continued when they took on Marion on Saturday. The Comets blew past the Giants 16-1.
Ava Roberson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Eastern got a massive performance out of Elle Winger, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Winger a new career-high. Katie Hendricks was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Carroll was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against North White, falling 18-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cougars have suffered since May 8, 2024.
Olivia Stankard was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Isley, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Eastern, their win bumped their record up to 3-18.
Eastern beat Carroll 7-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
