Basketball Game Preview: Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets vs. Southeast Halifax Trojans

The Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets will face off against the Southeast Halifax Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Roanoke Rapids and five for Southeast Halifax.

On Tuesday, Roanoke Rapids didn't have quite enough to beat Rocky Mount and fell 58-55. The Yellowjackets were up 39-22 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Meanwhile, Southeast Halifax came up short against Northampton County on Tuesday and fell 68-61.

Roanoke Rapids' loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5. As for Southeast Halifax, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Roanoke Rapids came out on top in a nail-biter against Southeast Halifax when the teams last played back in December of 2024, sneaking past 54-52. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Southeast Halifax's Clinton Mills Jr., who went 5 for 8 on his way to 22 points and five rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Roanoke Rapids still be able to contain Mills Jr.? There's only one way to find out.
