If the Centennial Eagles were riding high off their 56-20 takedown of the Northeast Hurricanes on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Centennial fell 60-50 to Palm Beach Gardens on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Centennial in their matchups with Palm Beach Gardens: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Centennial saw an underclassman step up: Jailyn Williams scored 22 points along with seven rebounds. Williams scored a full 44% of Centennial's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jada Parson, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
It was another big night for Kyana Poitier, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds for Palm Beach Gardens. The match was Poitier's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Alicia Russell was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Centennial's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Palm Beach Gardens, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
