Baseball Recap: North Smithfield Gets the Win

While North Smithfield's victory against Classical wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Northmen narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Purple 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Northmen have posted since April 17th.

Tyler Albino made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs. North Smithfield is 6-2 when Albino posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

Albino wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Pullen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Yandel Domen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The win got North Smithfield back to even at 8-8. As for Classical, they dropped their record down to 3-12 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
