Preview: Orcutt Academy Spartans vs. Kings Christian Crusaders
The Orcutt Academy Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Kings Christian Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Orcutt Academy has struggled recently with 12 losses in a row, while Kings Christian will arrive with eight straight victories.
Last Friday, Orcutt Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-51 to Cabrillo. That's two games in a row now that Orcutt Academy has lost by exactly four points.
Meanwhile, Kings Christian stacked a 23rd blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They really took it to Laton for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-20 victory at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Kings Christian had established a 43 point advantage.
Ronnie Roche continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and almost dropping a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Kings Christian's points. Trey Brouwer was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds.
Orcutt Academy's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-17. As for Kings Christian, their win bumped their record up to 27-2.
