Basketball Game Preview: King's Christian Knights vs. United Christian Academy

The King's Christian Knights just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome United Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

King's Christian fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Camden Academy Charter on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 40-39 to Camden Academy Charter. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Lily Welsh, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Lillian Logan, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, King's Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask United Christian Academy). They breezed past Villa Victoria Academy to the tune of 47-11 back in January. Given United Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Villa Victoria Academy is ranked 692nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

United Christian Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.8 points over those games. As for King's Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
