Softball Recap: Pekin Takes a Loss

Pekin blew Canton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Canton got their revenge. The Dragons fell just short of the Little Giants by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Dragons have suffered since May 6, 2024.

Jaeleigh Decker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Towery, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Pekin and nudges their season record down to 7-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Canton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pekin will host Limestone at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Canton, they will welcome Peoria Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
