Basketball Recap: Hondo Triumphs

After losing to Jourdanton the last time they met, Hondo decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Owls came out on top against the Indians/Squaws by a score of 73-64 on Friday.

Hondo had a senior duo take command as Josiah Quintanilla went 12-for-23 on his way to 33 points and seven boards and Markel Bradley shot 71% from the field to rack up 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Quintanilla has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Lopez, who posted eight points.

Hondo's win bumped their record up to 12-17. As for Jourdanton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hondo will face off against rival Dilley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Quintanilla and Isaiah Kinsey. Meanwhile, Jourdanton is set to challenge their familiar foe Crystal City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians/Squaws are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Javelinas a six-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
