Baseball Game Preview: De Anza Dons vs. El Cerrito Gauchos

The De Anza Dons will venture away from home to take on the El Cerrito Gauchos at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

De Anza will bounce into Friday's game after beating Pinole Valley, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Dons walked away with a 5-2 win over the Spartans on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dons.

Meanwhile, El Cerrito had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.

AJ Bissell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Jaxon Coles was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Warren Lieu, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

De Anza's record now sits at 5-14-1. As for El Cerrito, their record is now 18-7.

De Anza suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to El Cerrito in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Dons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
