The Basic Wolves will take on the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Basic beat Spring Valley 10-6. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won five in a row.

Melanie Hughes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 13 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Natalee Ramos was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Aubrey Kilar was another key player, scoring three runs while going 4-for-5.
Basic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Sierra Vista made easy work of Bonanza on Friday and carried off an 11-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mountain Lions.
Reagan Foglia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Foglia was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Penelope Spann was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Best, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Basic pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Sierra Vista, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Basic took their victory against Sierra Vista in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2 score. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mountain Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
