Basketball Recap: Corning Comes Up Short

Corning was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost to the East Poinsett County Warriors on the road by a 53-36 margin. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Warriors are ranked 94th).

East Poinsett County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyla Harston, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Riley Ashcraft was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Corning's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for East Poinsett County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Corning has already played their next matchup (against Buffalo Island Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. East Poinsett County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-30 victory against Piggott on the 23rd.
