Troy had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-5 to make it six. They lost 9-3 to the Athens Red Hawks. The Colts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

As for Athens, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7. The game was the first time they have beaten Troy on their field since June 4, 2016.

For Athens' part, Angie Leonard made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Leonard has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Leah Dahlerup was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Addison Cosgrove also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

While Troy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
