Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for South View

South View entered their tilt with Cape Fear on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They snuck past the Cape Fear Colts with a 72-67 win. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

South View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Antrell Gilmore, who went 6 for 10 en route to 18 points and five steals. Gilmore's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Yabniel Cheveres, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 21 points.

South View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Cape Fear still got an impressive performance from Tyler Eavenson, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Eavenson a new career-high in steals (four). Chosen Wynn was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

South View is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.1 points per game. As for Cape Fear, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

South View wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-58 victory against Enloe on the 18th. As for Cape Fear, they will welcome Gray's Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Fear is facing Gray's Creek at the right time seeing as Gray's Creek is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
