Preview: Troy Trojans vs. Tippecanoe Red Devils
The Troy Trojans will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Tippecanoe Red Devils at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th. Troy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 548th, while Tippecanoe is ranked 172nd).
Troy's 19-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Piqua by a score of 50-47. That's two games in a row now that Troy has lost by exactly three points.
Meanwhile, Tippecanoe had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They claimed a resounding 81-20 win over Greenville on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Tippecanoe has managed all season.
Troy bumped their record down to 4-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Tippecanoe, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Troy came up short against Tippecanoe in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 47-34. Can Troy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
