Basketball Recap: Clovis West Falls Despite Big Games from Dj Stickman and Jace Kellogg

If Clovis West was feeling good fresh off their 87-54 takedown of Clovis last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Clovis West Golden Eagles took a 64-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clovis North Broncos on Friday. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Jace Kellogg and Dj Stickman certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Kellogg went 8 of 20 en route to 22 points and six boards, while Stickman dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Stickman has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Espinoza, who posted eight points and eight boards.

Clovis West has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Clovis North, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Clovis West has already played their next contest (against Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Clovis North and Vanden will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Vanden's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine games.
