Softball Recap: Our Lady of Mercy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Our Lady of Mercy dropped their record down to 4-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They fell 5-2 to the Penfield Patriots. The Monarchs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

As for Penfield, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Penfield's part, Clare Magee looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Magee has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alexi Cimino was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Ella Malley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Our Lady of Mercy will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Letchworth at 10:00 a.m. As for Penfield, they are taking a road trip to challenge Greece Odyssey at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
