John Paul II had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 22-point drubbing they dealt Mountain Ridge on Saturday. The John Paul II Cardinals blew past the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions 77-55. Winning may never get old, but the Cardinals sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Mountain Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Donovan, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Donovan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Thompson, who posted 15 points and six rebounds.

John Paul II's win bumped their record up to 14-12. As for Mountain Ridge, they moved to 8-7 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John Paul II will venture away from home to take on DasCHE at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in John Paul II's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. As for Mountain Ridge, they will head out to square off against Deer Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Deer Valley will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Mountain Ridge surely won't give up without a fight.
