Volleyball Recap: Mattamuskeet Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Mattamuskeet unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Washington Montessori Eagles on Tuesday, falling 3-0. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-14, 25-21.

Naomi Arellano paced Mattamuskeet's offense, picking up eight kills. Arellano got some help from Savanah Whitfield and her seven assists.

The victory got Washington Montessori back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Mattamuskeet will venture away from home to challenge Gates County at 5:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Washington Montessori, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Jones at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
