Softball Recap: Nazareth Academy Takes a Loss

Nazareth Academy had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 10-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the Aurora Central Catholic Chargers by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Roadrunners of the 13-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Aurora Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

For Aurora Central Catholic's part, Corina Miller spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. Miller has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Morgan Vaghy, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nazareth Academy will square off against Marist at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The RedHawks will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Roadrunners surely won't give up without a fight. As for Aurora Central Catholic, they will face off against De La Salle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chargers 2.9, the Meteors 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
