One team took the elevator way up and another took it way down in the power rankings this week. Among the action were the efforts of Wise's senior Quinton Williams, an offensive menace who scored six total TDs.
Can't Touch This
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Wise last week (their 7th in a row). It blew past DuVal 42 - 13. Wise's defense outmaneuvered the DuVal offensive line and got to the QB for five sacks. Williams's performance stood out as one of the best in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between St. John's and Gonzaga, 1st and 4th in the power rankings, respectively. St. John's strolled past Gonzaga with points to spare, taking the game 34 - 17. Gonzaga had come in flaunting an aggressive defense allowing an average of only 12 points per game, but that obviously didn't scare off St. John's.
No Stoppin 'Em
75. That was the combined point total for East Rockingham and Luray when they went head to head last week, and it set the benchmark for all power ranking teams. East Rockingham put the hurt on Luray with a conclusive 56 - 19 victory. East Rockingham saw its record improve to 10-0 and its power rank jump five places as a result.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Our Lady of Good Counsel (3rd in the power rankings) and DeMatha (2nd). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out which team fails to repeat its success.
