Baseball Recap: Valliant Comes Up Short

Valliant fell victim to Red Oak and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Landyn Howard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Valliant's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Red Oak, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valliant will welcome Hugo at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Red Oak, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cameron at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Yellow Jackets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
