Charlotte Latin and Covenant Day are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Charlotte Latin sitting on nine straight wins and Covenant Day on 12.
On Friday, Charlotte Latin made easy work of Cannon and carried off a 9-2 victory. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Avery Booker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Hampton, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaden Hawa, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Covenant Day won against Providence Day on Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Lions walked away with a 5-0 win over the Chargers.
Like Charlotte Latin, Covenant Day also got a great game from a two-way player: James Cosper. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cosper was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Covenant Day got a great performance from Grant Gardner as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched.
Cosper wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brode Dixon, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Covenant Day hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Providence Day struck out ten times.
Charlotte Latin's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Covenant Day, their record is now 14-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Charlotte Latin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Covenant Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
