Football Recap: Colt Schwertner Key Part of Team Effort in Bearcats Win + How To Watch

De Leon had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Wolfe City Wolves 30-28. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bearcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Wolves are ranked 710th).

De Leon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Colt Schwertner out in front who rushed for 69 yards and one TD. Max Jones got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Wolfe City lost on Friday, don't look at Hd Davis. Despite the final result, he rushed for 277 yards and four touchdowns. Davis really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run.

De Leon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.3 points over those games. As for Wolfe City, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coming up, De Leon will face off against Frankston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. Wolfe City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
