The Northwestern Wildcats''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Fairview 43-6. Northwestern was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-0.
Northwestern's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Lloyd Fountain, who threw for 127 yards and a touchdown.
Among those leading the charge was Vincent Campoli, who rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 167 yards and a touchdown while completing 81.8% of his passes. Tyler Benford also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Northwestern's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Fairview, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.
Northwestern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fairview will square off against Sharon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sharon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fairview in Pennsylvania (Sharon is ranked 134th, while Fairview is ranked 381st).
