Baseball Recap: Sand Creek Takes a Loss

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Sand Creek and Elizabeth have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Scorpions fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-3 on Wednesday.

Sand Creek saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Lucero, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Sand Creek's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Elizabeth, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Coming up, Sand Creek will host Salida at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Scorpions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Elizabeth, they will venture away from home to face off against Strasburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
